Realistic Exhaust V1.9.0.2

FS25 Mods |
Realistic Exhaust V1.9.0.2

Realistic Exhaust replaces the basic smoke stages in Farming Simulator 25 with a dynamic exhaust model. Fuel quantity, air supply, turbocharger, boost pressure, engine temperature, and the soot limit work together to determine the color, density, and volume of the smoke.

Features

  • Smoke reacts to engine load, RPM, and throttle position.
  • Turbochargers feature realistic response times.
  • Bursts of throttle, sudden drops in RPM, and changes in load result in varying smoke patterns.
  • Older engines tend to produce more smoke under load.
  • High RPMs with no load result in nearly clear exhaust.
  • Starting the engine produces a distinct, dense puff of smoke.

Cold engines may produce white vapor or bluish-white smoke caused by unburnt fuel. This effect disappears as the engine warms up. Cold temperatures and high humidity make water vapor more visible.

Depending on the engine and its operating state, various shades are produced:

  • Deep black
  • Brownish-black
  • Grayish-brown
  • Bluish-gray
  • White
  • Bluish-white

Once emitted, particles do not change color; instead, they age naturally, becoming lighter and thinner before gradually dissipating.

  • Smoke originates directly from the visible exhaust pipe.
  • Particle size and exit velocity scale according to engine power.
  • Gentle output at idle.
  • More intense exhaust flow under heavy load.
  • Supports vehicles with multiple exhaust pipes.
  • Exhausts that are hidden or invisible do not produce smoke.

The volume of smoke increases dynamically based on the throttle position:

  • Below 30%: minimal smoke
  • Up to 50%: moderate amount
  • From 50% upwards: increasingly intense
  • From 75% upwards: maximum smoke volume and exit velocity
  • Wind influences direction and turbulence.
  • Warm air causes water vapor to dissipate more quickly.
  • Cold conditions and rain make the vapor more visible.
  • Rain reduces the amount of soot in the smoke plume.

The engine library includes 16 engine profiles for:

  • Older and modern diesel engines
  • Gasoline (petrol) engines
  • Naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines
  • Hot-bulb (semi-diesel) engines
  • Two-stroke engines
  • Methane-powered engines
  • Small and large engines

Assignment is handled automatically based on fuel type, vehicle category, power output, model series, year of manufacture, and detected exhaust technology.

Special Vehicle Types

  • Modern diesels with AdBlue: virtually smoke-free
  • Gasoline engines: no black diesel soot
  • Motorcycles: primarily heat shimmer
  • Bicycles: no exhaust emissions
  • Electric vehicles: no exhaust emissions

Engine profiles can be customized in data/engineLibrary.xml.

  • Procedurally generated smoke textures
  • 36 stages of aging per texture
  • Dedicated particle pools for each exhaust pipe
  • Reduced flickering and smoother transitions
  • Compatible with base-game, DLC, and modded vehicles
  • Supports multiple exhaust pipes
  • No individual vehicle-specific configuration required

Changelog

  • V1.9.0.2
New exhaust behavior: calmer smoke that rises softly, grows and dissipates. Significantly less smoke during normal operation, but heavy under full load and when revving up.
  • V1.9.0.2
NEW: Shop configuration “Exhaust Profile” for every vehicle with a diesel or methane engine, free, can also be changed in the workshop, multiplayer: Factory (Engine), Stage V Clean, Eco Tune, Common Rail Stock, Old School Turbo, Oldtimer Naturally Aspirated, Blue Smoker, Heavy Hauler, Stage 2 Black Smoke, Rolling Coal, Tractor Pulling.
  • V1.9.0.2
Shop preview: When “Exhaust Profile” is selected, the vehicle smokes as if driving uphill under load at full throttle. Selecting another line or leaving the shop turns the smoke off.
  • V1.9.0.2
NEW: Soot balls for old and heavily smoking engines: dense, bulging balls of smoke with light-colored tops and dark undersides that thin out to a brownish gray.
  • V1.9.0.2
The three most extreme profiles are significantly denser and darker, and their clouds remain for up to 20 s.
  • V1.9.0.2
A continuous stream of smoke directly from the exhaust pipe: it starts exactly in front of the pipe opening, a few centimeters farther out under load, has the diameter and angle of the respective exhaust pipe when emitted, rises with the heat and remains continuous while driving.
  • V1.9.0.2
Smoke size and buoyancy adapt to the diameter of each exhaust pipe; multiple exhaust pipes share the exhaust fumes.
  • V1.9.0.2
Vehicles and players driving or walking through an exhaust cloud carry smoke with them.
  • V1.9.0.2
Soot, oil, steam and unburned fuel each have their own density, lifetime, size and rising speed. Steam only appears in cold air or rain.
  • V1.9.0.2
    New mod icon.
  • V1.9.0.2
Better performance: at most 40 particles per second per pipe.
