MAZ-7310 Radar P-18PL under an operational and simulation/modding asset framework.
Features
- Military & Technical Explanation: MAZ-7310 Radar P-18PL.
- 1. Mobility Platform:
MAZ7310. Tactical Role: An 8×8 heavy off-road transport vehicle, derived from the Soviet/Belarusian MAZ heavy missile carrier chassis. - Operational Capability: Serves as the self-propelled carrier for heavy radar antennas, power generators, and operational command shelters. Its high ground clearance and 8-wheel drive allow the radar unit to deploy in rugged terrain (cross-country), significantly improving survivability against counter-battery fires or anti-radiation missile (ARM) strikes through rapid shoot-and-scoot capability.
- 2. Electronic Surveillance Payload:
Radar_P18PL. Tactical Role: A modern 3D long-range early warning and air surveillance radar operating in the VHF (meter-wave) frequency spectrum. - Strategic Purpose: Meter-band frequencies excel at detecting low-observable (stealth) aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones that are designed to absorb or scatter conventional high-frequency microwave radar signals.
- 3D Target Tracking: Unlike legacy analog P-18 radar systems, which provided only 2D range/azimuth data, modern 3D variants, such as the P-18PL / P-18 AESA modernizations, incorporate digital beamforming to measure altitude, speed, and precise 3D vector coordinates simultaneously.
