This mod adds dynamic water to deep wheel tracks in waterlogged fields. The water adapts to the terrain and reacts to soil moisture, rain, snowmelt, frost, wheels, and the in-game character. A 900 HP tractor can leave deep tracks that visibly fill with water.
Features
- A groundwater level beneath the field follows the shape of the terrain, including slopes.
- Water becomes visible wherever the ground dips lower, such as in tractor tracks.
- Tracks fill like small basins until the water reaches the edges of the rut.
- Once soil moisture hits 10%, the water level rises based on local ground conditions.
- Rain and snowmelt contribute to further increases in water levels.
- During frost, the water level freezes solid.
- If “Realistic Water & Soil Management” (RWSM) is installed, the mod uses its local soil moisture data, allowing water accumulation to respond to existing ground conditions.
- The native
ShallowWaterSimulationensures that water reacts to wheels and the in-game character. - The character moves in harmony with the environment and steps into the rut.
- The current state is stored within the savegame.
- Multiplayer is supported.
- Water effects are calculated locally on each client.
- Calculations account for tire tracks, regardless of which vehicle created them.
Beta testing
BETA 0.9.1.5: The mod is still in development and needs to be tested across various maps and soil conditions.
For unusual water behavior, visual glitches, or other oddities, a screenshot together with the log.txt file is the most helpful way to provide feedback.
Debug and test console
The following console commands are available for testing and troubleshooting:
witDebug, witFill, witMargin, witShader, witFlip, witClear, witProbe, witRwsmDump
Changelog
- V1.2.5.2
No more corners when water seeps away, fills up, or is pushed aside: within a 100 m radius, RutFlow renders the water as a separate surface whose edge is calculated from the surveyed and smoothed track bed, not from the grid of the track deformation. As the water level drops, the water retreats continuously toward the lowest line of the track, just like when pumping out floodwater.
The tire pushes the water away, and the gap then closes continuously. Rain, snowmelt, and soil moisture determine the rate.
Bow waves only occur within water at least 3 cm deep. - V1.2.5.1
Fixed: Driving through water caused the script to stop, line 2233, due to a missing value for the bow wave height. As a result, the bow wave, waves, and foam were missing.
As a result, vehicles could no longer be controlled in fields by some players, fixed.
Player character camera: all game parameters are passed on unchanged. - V1.2.5.0
Updated modDesc to descVersion 116, the current GIANTS standard, TestRunner 0.9.24.
